Civil Society Organizations Participate in the Aid Effectiveness Agenda

During the first week of September donor countries and recipient countries will meet in Accra for the Third High Level Forum to review and assess progress in the implementation of the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness and to agree on a new agenda for action. Civil society organizations have been calling for reforms to the tracking, delivering, and management of aid for quite some time. They have become much more vocal about their concerns since the signing of the Paris Declaration in 2005.

Forum Assesses Progress on Aid Effectiveness
Over 1,200 representatives of recipient countries, donor institutions, foundations, and civil society organizations have come together to discuss aid effectiveness. The purpose of the meeting in Accra is for the development community to evaluate progress on the Paris commitments and hold themselves accountable. Evidence of progress so far has been mixed. While development strategies have improved since the endorsement of the Paris Declaration in 2005, there is more to do.
