A PLAID-Development Gateway Joint Initiative

AidData is a free and easily accessible web-based repository of aid activities designed to help track development finance and cooperation. It is the result of the merged efforts of Project-Level Aid (PLAID) and Development Gateway. This tool combines all of the aid activity data in PLAID and AiDA as well as utilizes innovative analytical tools developed at both institutions to provide users with an accurate and up-to-date picture of development information. AidData provides development practitioners, researchers, country governments, and individuals interested in development finance with access to complete and high-quality information on aid activities worldwide. Through our combined effort, the AidData team hopes to increase effectiveness and transparency by providing easy access to aid information through a shared online source.

AidData is committed to transparency in development finance, and will remain free and accessible to the public through an easy to use web portal.

About PLAID and AiDA

Project-Level Aid (PLAID) seeks to improve development finance policy, practice, and scholarship through the collection, standardization, and publication of aid information and research. The PLAID database includes information on individual projects undertaken by bilateral and multilateral aid donors from 1973 to the present. PLAID utilizes data from both traditional and non-traditional sources, including major bilateral donors, multilateral donors, and non-traditional donors. The PLAID team believes that the comprehensive data provided by this project will help improve aid coordination and increase transparency, contribute to the promotion of international data standards, facilitate measurement of the effectiveness of development finance, and provide information for better allocation decisions by donors.

AiDA is the largest online directory of official development aid activities. It offers a quick overview of who is doing what in international development, where they are doing it, and with what funds. AiDA is provided by Development Gateway and the World Bank.
